RomanoxReader - Lost in Italy

You knew you were absent headed, were curious and got lost easily but did you ever listen to your gut? It was a rhetorical question but I'll answer anyways. The answer is no, you never listened to your gut and alway ended up in trouble. Today was no exception, the only difference was that you did it in a completely unknown place. I should explain, well in very simple words you were lost… lost in Italy. The only thing you knew was that you were in Siena, nothing else. You might be asking yourself if she's so absent minded why didn't she just get a tour group or something of the like, well I did! But I lost them as well, ugh, let me just start from the beginning.

My friend [f/n] had decided to move to Italy after finishing her degree on architecture, it was one her life-long dreams. She moved to Siena, which is in Tuscany, Italy by the way. This summer she invited me to stay over at her place so I could tour Italy to my hearts content, I ,of course, accepted her invitation. That is how I found myself in Siena, that doesn't explain my predicament but I'm getting there don't worry. I got here just fine and I've been at her house for a few days and today my tour group and I were finally going to see Siena, [f/n] would have taken me herself but she had to work. The tour group and I had gone to see the beautiful Siena Cathedral and were preparing to head back to the bus stop to head to our places of residence. That's when it happened. I was happily admiring the streets of Italy when I caught sight of a mask sales man just walking around the streets yelling something in Italian, which I guessed was something like "Come buy some overpriced masks, foreigners!" and I , of course, fell in his trap. I quickly told one of my fellow tourists that I was going to buy one before heading over to the man, I didn't stop to think that they might not understand english well and my quickly spoken excited jumbled mess of words had no coherent meaning to them. So I ignorantly headed over to the mask salesman trying to catch up weaving in and out of the crowd. Soon I  noticed I had lost the man and mentally cursed, "Damn, he had some pretty masks." I thought. I then headed back in the general direction that I had come from trying to get back to my group and go home. Surprise, surprise they were no where to be found. That is how I found myself standing under a street lamp trying to get someone's attention so they could help me.

You looked at your watch for about the fifth time, 4:55 pm. "I've been screaming my lungs out, both in Spanish and English for half an hour and nobody has come to help me!" you thought angrily. You were sure most of these bastards knew english and most likely spanish but were they stopping to help you? Oh no, of course not. They were probably laughing at the poor foreigner who got lost, how more pathetic could you get?

It didn't hurt to keep trying so once again you yelled "Alguien me puede ayudar? Estoy perdida y necesito direcciones! Can anybody, please, help me? I'm lost and I need directions!" Again no one came and your tolerance level was growing thinner and thinner by the second, you opened your mouth to yell again when you heard a heavenly Italian accent.

"Could you please stop that screaming, ragazza? It's getting quite annoying."

You turned around and saw a handsome man. He was probably around your age, give or take a few years, with dark brown hair and a weird curl sticking out at the side of his head. His eyes were also  brown and they had an annoyed look in them that was accompanied by a scowl that looked so natural on his face it gave the impression that he always had it on. You didn't care he looked annoyed to hell and back and probably wanted to strangle you to get you to stop yelling, he was an angel. An angel sent from heaven to take you home to your warm bed and the random Italian soap operas your friend watched.

"Yes! You acknowledged me, thank you! Could you please, please, please tell me how to get to this place?" before he could go and leave you alone once again you thrust a paper into his face with the directions to your friends house. You didn't really care you were being rude, you just wanted to get out of here and besides he called you annoying the least he could do was help you.

He took the paper read it, looked back at you and sighed. "This isn't far from my apartment, I guess I could show you the way. Just know I'm not doing this to be nice, you just look so pitiful it pains me to look at you and I'm sure the shopkeepers are as equally annoyed as I am."

You jumped from joy. "You were finally going home!" you thought happily. "Mister, I don't care what your reasons are as long as you get me home and don't rape me in the process!" He looked taken aback by your comment and angrily told you "I wouldn't do that to anyone, stupida ragazza!" He promptly stomped away, expecting you to follow and that you did as you didn't want to lose the one person who was willing to help you, no matter what were the reasons.

He was quickly moving along the throng of people and afraid you would lose him, you jogged up to him and took hold of his hand and if looks could kill your friend would have had to plan a funeral. "Che diavolo?! What did you do that for?" He looked disgustingly between your face and your joined hands. You scoffed at his offended attitude. "Who does he think he is?! Acting all high and mighty and looking at my hand like it's made of crap." you thought.

"I'm equally as unhappy as you are in this predicament, it's not like I wanted to get lost! And if I have to hold a strangers hand to not do it again then so be it. Just remember that you know these streets like the back of your hand, I don't." you told him while lightly glaring at him. "He is a cute stranger though, so holding his hand isn't as bad as I make it out to be." you thought. He just huffed and looked away but not before you noticing that his cheeks were flushed a light pink color, you smirked knowing he was just as embarrassed as you were and that certainly made you feel better.

You walked for a while in silence and you were growing bored, you were usually the talkative type but you knew you would probably annoy him and get him mad at you... again. But curiosity ate at you and you realized you didn't even know your saviors name.

"Hey, what's your name? I'm [y/n]." you told him. He eyed you through the corner of his eye, apparently you weren't important enough to deserve his full attention.

"I'm Lovino. You know the address you gave me is of an apartment complex, how is it that while living in Italy you're stupid enough to get lost?" Your mouth gaped. "I swear he is the only person I have met that can make a simple answer into an insult." you shook the annoyed thought away.

"Well, not that it's any of your business but I don't live here. I'm spending the summer here with my friend." You answered while angrily pouting at the insinuation that you were actually stupid enough to lose your way in your town of residence, even if that was mildly true and may have happened while at your home town.

"Hmm, that still doesn't explain how you got lost." He gave you this smug look, like he knew your story was stupid and embarrassing. And he just kept looking at you expecting your answer and leaving you no space to back out and not telling him without looking like a pansy. So you just recited your story of how you got distracted by a mask sales man and got separated from your group and your endless pleads for help that only stopped when he got so annoyed he came to tell you to shut up.

And you know what the bastard did, yeah, he started laughing his ass off! Yes, his laugh and smile made his face light up and his eyes sparkle and the small hint of a dimple in his right cheek was adorable but it was all at your expense! "You could at least try to suppress your laughter, you know! You don't need to make it even more embarrassing!" You told him, wanting to cross your arms but not wanting to let go of his hand… because you didn't want to get lost, yeah! That was the reason not that it felt nice to have his larger hand enveloping yours, nope that wasn't the reason at all.

He wiped some tears from his eyes and said "Now why would I do that? Watching you get red faced and pout is entertaining." He looked at you while saying it and gave you a wink while smirking. Oh how he got under your skin! You just wanted to punch him, with your lips. No! You didn't mean that! You meant with your fists, common mistake really.

Before you could think of some comeback he announced that you had reached his home. "This is my place, the apartment complex you're looking for is about two blocks down." He let you of your hand and looked like he was about to leave and let you find your way to the apartment by yourself. He nodded at you and turned around, all the while your eyes got as big as saucers thinking of all the ways you could get lost with two blocks in between you and the apartment. Before you turned and left, you felt him heave a big sigh and you looked at him, he had turned around and wore a pained expression on his face.

"If I let you go alone you're going to get lost aren't you?" Your eyes widened again and you laughed nodding your head eagerly, hoping he would volunteer to take you the rest of the way. He sighed once again and said "Let me just tell my stupid fratello where I'm going, so he doesn't start calling all of our relatives asking if they've seen me." You started to laugh but then noticed his glare that was directed towards you and stopped, sensing that he wasn't joking when he said that.

He made a motion, indicating you to follow him up to his home. You went up three flights of stairs to reach the apartment. He opened the door and you both entered the apartment, apparently Italians didn't have a thing for security or maybe it was these two brothers.

"Feliciano, I'm home!" Lovino yelled. No sooner had the words slipped out of his mouth, a small tornado of light auburn locks came rushing toward Lovino.

"Fratello, you're home! I was so worried, you left your phone so I couldn't contact you! I was about to call everyone asking if they knew where you were! Why did you take so long? I just sent you to buy pasta! Did you get lost again? That happens a lot or maybe you got distracted by a pretty girl." You just stood in a corner watching this encounter with amused eyes. The smaller version of Lovino, who was apparently called Feliciano, looked pretty much identical to his brother only slight differences them being his hair color and their personality, of course. Their personalities were literally complete opposites, if it weren't for their looks you would have questioned their blood relation.

"Feli, would you please shut up?" Lovino said forcefully, his face a tad red while trying to push Feliciano away from him. You took this moment to embarrass him further. "So, the guy who was laughing his ass off gets lost frequently too, huh? And you were asking me 'who was stupid enough to get lost in the town they lived in?'. Hypocrite." you said while smirking, at this his face got even redder and he looked like an apple or maybe a tomato.

For the first time since you got there Feliciano noticed you. "Oh, so you did get distracted by a bella girl! Hello, I'm Feliciano. What's your name?" He stood in front of you balancing on the balls of his feet looking at you excitedly. You giggled at his cuteness and Lovino just face palmed in the background.

"I'm [y/n], nice to meet you Feliciano." You smiled at him, although he was a few inches smaller than Lovino, he was about your same height. "Ve~, you're so pretty! How did Lovino find such a pretty girl like you? Didn't he scare you off with his glare?" You heard the man in question scoff somewhere behind Feli but you just ignored him.

"Actually, he's helped me out quite a bit. I was completely lost and asking for help but everyone ignored me except him. He got mad at me for causing a ruckus and I kind of made him help me and take me home." Feliciano looked a bit stunned to hear that his brother helped you but when you mentioned that he got mad for all the noise he nodded in understanding, like that he could visualize but not Lovino helping me just to be nice. You've only known Lovino for about 20 minutes and you could totally understand Feli.

"So, I'm still here you know. I'll be taking this ragazza home now, I'll be back in about 10 minutes. So don't go calling everyone and asking for me!" He looked at you and said "Let me get something from my room and we'll leave." you nodded and watched him disappear to the back of the house.

"Are you and him twins?" you asked Feliciano, you assumed they were because they looked a lot alike. "Nope!" replied Feli with a smile, "He's a year older than I am but most people think we're twins though." you nodded, it was weird to see siblings that looked so much alike but weren't twins but what did you know you were an only child.

"Where do you live, [nickname]?" You looked at him strangely, you weren't used to people giving you nicknames let alone strangers. "Um, I'm staying here." you showed him the paper slip with the address. You could maybe pronounce it, using your knowledge of Spanish, but you didn't want to butcher their language.

"Oo, that's just a few blocks from here! Could I visit you? Please, please please?" He gave huge puppy dog eyes and you couldn't have said no even if you wanted to, which you didn't. "Of course, but make sure to call first, I wouldn't want you to walk over there only for me to not be there. This is the home phone." You quickly wrote the phone number on a piece of paper and gave it to him. He excitedly nodded and put the paper in his pocket.

"I'm done come on lets go, [y/n]." Lovino said while taking hold of your wrist and heading for the door. "Bye, Feliciano! It was a pleasure meeting you!" you yelled while being dragged by Lovino out of the apartment. "Ciao, bella! See you soon!" You were soon led down the stairs by Lovino and unceremoniously let go of once you reached the bottom. He was carrying a bag which was what you guessed he had gone looking for in his room. It had a familiar print on the side but you couldn't remember where you saw it. Once again you were too curious to keep your mouth shut, so while catching up to his long strides you gave in and asked what was inside the bag.

He looked at you, flushed a bit and looked away. Now you were even more curious. "Come on, tell what's in there? Tell me, tell me tell me, tell me." you kept chanting and pulling on his sleeve to annoy him more. He finally gave a frustrated grunt and said "Here." while shoving the bag in your arms. You looked at him curiously and amused but looked inside anyways.

Inside was a beautiful gold and cream colored mask. Then it came back to you as to where you had seen the logo, it was on the bags the mask sales man had. You looked at him with wide eyes "Why are you giving this to me? This is yours." You held it back to him, your face red. "He couldn't possibly be giving this to you! He thought you were annoying, besides you just met less than an hour ago!" you thought flustered.

"Why do you think?! You wanted a mask, so have a mask. Fratello and I have loads, one less won't hurt and you couldn't get one, so there." You stared at him your mouth gaping trying to form a sentence but you were speechless. You hadn't even noticed you both had stopped walking

"I- uh- well-…" You tried to say something but before you could, he snapped "Spit it out!"

Ha, you could bet you two looked like the most awkward people in the planet, both completely red and one with an angry look on his face and the other with wide eyes and her mouth open looking like a blowfish. "Ah, thank you! I mean, at least let me pay for it." You started rummaging through your purse for your wallet when you felt a hand on your forearm.

"Do you not know what a gift is, ragazza? Just keep it before I change my mind." You brought the bag up to your face to cover your smile and hide your blush.

"Thank you so much, Lovino." He just huffed and said a dismissive 'whatever' but you could see his lips twitching up a bit. "So, I guess I'll see you in a while." He turned around to leave but you stopped him. "Wait! Weren't you taking me home?" You were still afraid of getting lost seeing as it was getting a darker by the minute.

He looked at you like you were crazy and the just shook his head. He grasped your shoulders and turned you around, in front of you was the apartment complex in which you were staying at with your friend. "We're already here, idiota." You had no idea when you got there but you weren't questioning your mad sense of direction, notice the sarcasm.

"Oh." was all you said. Lovino chuckled and said " 'Oh' is right, ragazza."

Then out of nowhere your friend appeared in the balcony of the apartment and proceeded to embarrass you even further, probably erasing any ounce of respect Lovino had of you, which truthfully speaking wasn't much to begin with. " [y/n]! Where have you been?! I called the tour agency and they said you disappeared! I knew this would happen, I should've put a leash on you! Ooooo who's that fine piece of italian man? You seem like [y/n]'s type! Do you maybe have a brother or cousin of some kind? We're both single, by the way!"

You just groaned and put your head in your hands, while Lovino laughed at your misery and embarrassment. He then leaned in close to your ear and whispered "Oh how the tables have turned, ragazza."
